Why a MTL committee?
Both Singapore and Netherlands prioritize the development of regional logistics super hubs and aim to be the leaders in their region. The Singapore government is also promoting maritime and related companies to relocate their fleet and offices to Singapore using various tax advantages to become a global maritime hub. The maritime cluster is growing fast and truly international.
Also Singapore through MPA Maritime Port Authority and SMF Singapore Maritime Fund are promoting and investing significantly in research and education to promote advanced technology and processes in transportation e.g. sustainability (emissions, carbon footprint) ….areas where the Dutch are good at.
Scope
Maritime cluster a.o. shipowners, managers, dredging, ship-broking and chartering, shipyards, classification societies, marine engineering, P&I/ship Insurance, ship-finance, marine lawyers. Transportation, like ports&terminals, trucking, rail. Passenger transportation like ferries and cruise-liners is outside, the main focus is on cargo transportation (B2B). Logistics includes the various logistics providers, as well as distribution and warehousing.
