Dutch Kinesis Pharma opens office in Singapore.

Kinesis Pharma BV, founded in 1997, has been active in Asia since 2005, when the first client contacts were made in China. A strong change was observed from the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and generic medicines to the development and production of innovative pharmaceutical products. Furthermore, Chinese companies specialized in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) were searching for ways to market their products in Western countries, e.g. in Europe under the new regulations for traditional herbal products. Because of these developments in the Chinese market, but also in other Asian markets, a growing request for support by Kinesis Pharma was observed. This was expanded with the focus on biotech investments by other Asian governments such as Singapore.

The Singapore Biomedical Sciences (BMS) initiative was launched in June 2000 to develop the BMS cluster as one of the key pillars of Singapore’s knowledge based economy. The first phase of development (2000-2005) focused on establishing a firm foundation of basic biomedical research in Singapore. The second phase of development (2006-2010) is focused on strengthening capabilities in translational and clinical research, while continuing to build basic research capabilities. A growing number of large pharma companies are convinced by the competitive advantages of Singapore as a biomedical science hub and have chosen to establish their regional headquarters in Singapore.

Kinesis Pharma sees important business opportunities in this fast emerging Asian region of the biomedical science industry and has established an office in Singapore under the name Kinesis Pharma Singapore PTE. LTD. The office will be headed by Kees Bol, PhD, currently Senior Project Manager at Kinesis Pharma, and will open its doors for business in August 2010
