You do not want to miss this DutchNet monthly Business Referral Networking Breakfast organized by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.
Keynote speaker this time is Arent Jan Hesselink, Head of Integrated Marketing and Communications, Philips Asia Pacific with Philips Electronics NV
The highlighted topic is : Philips: Challenges and successes in repositioning the brand in line with its new company strategy.
Many people know and appreciate the Philips brand; but as Philips transforms from a cyclical maker of high-volume, lower margin (consumer) electronics products into a company providing high-end solutions in Healthcare, Lighting and Personal Health and Wellbeing, it seems people’s knowledge of the brand has become outdated.
As Philips achieves success in entirely different markets than in the past, the company’s brand needs to transform as well: i.e. the brand and company strategy needs to become much better aligned. To this effect, Philips Asia Pacific has in the past year embarked on an innovative marketing and communications program across the region to reposition the company and brand in people’s minds and indeed fuel understanding and preference for the ‘new’ Philips. During this session, they will share their successes and challenges during an interactive discussion.
Arent Jan (AJ) Hesselink is Head of Integrated Marketing and Communications for Philips in Asia Pacific. In this role, he is responsible for building, protecting and innovating the company’s brand and reputation in Asia Pacific, and ensuring all the company’s communications efforts, including marketing communications and corporate communications, are aligned with the overall brand objectives of Philips. He is part of the area’s leadership team and leads Philips’ Asia Pacific marketing council. He has 16 years of marketing, media and communications experience.
He is based in Singapore. Prior to this, AJ was Head of Communications for Asia Pacific and before that, Chief Press Officer for Philips, based in headquarters in Amsterdam, overseeing global media relations. In Amsterdam, he led all financial and strategic communications efforts of Philips for four years.
Before joining Philips, he was Bureau Chief for Dow Jones Newswires (The Wall Street Journal Europe) in Amsterdam, where he led a group of 22 reporters covering breaking news out of The Netherlands.
AJ holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the School for Higher Education of Utrecht and studied Political Science in Amsterdam. He also holds an Executive Coaching Practitioner Diploma from the Academy of Executive Coaching in Beijing.
Each participant will have the opportunity to meet other valuable decision makers and will be invited to give 60 seconds elevator pitch/ business presentation.
